Il DVD in questione ci porta nei territori della musica fusion (così veniva chiamata negli anni ottanta, mentre
ora sfugge a qualsiasi definizione) di quel grande
chitarrista che è Pat Metheny e, per la precisione, in
quel 1997 nel quale venne realizzato “Imaginary Day”.
Questo è un album che, nella stessa intenzione degli
autori, voleva essere una sorta di album concept, uno di
quei lavori, cioè, in grado di offrire una certa
unitarietà nel sound e nelle storie narrate. Doveva
esprimere la fascinosa potenza del mito del viaggio, come
dichiarò lo stesso Metheny. Insomma, il “giorno
immaginario” del chitarrista americano doveva portare
all\'ascolto “da qualche altra parte”. In realtà, molta
della musica di Metheny ha questo grande potere, grazie
alla versatilità del suo sguardo musicale.
